Abstract
An area light includes a base module having a set of wheels supporting the base module on a surface, a battery receptacle disposed in the base module and configured to receive a battery, and a drive motor supported by the base module and electrically coupled to the battery receptacle. The drive motor is configured to receive power from the battery and rotate at least some of the set of wheels. The area light also includes a mast assembly extending from the base module and a light assembly coupled to the mast assembly and electrically coupled to the battery receptacle. The light assembly is configured to receive power from the battery.

An area light comprising:
- a base module having a plurality of drive elements supporting the base module on a surface;
- a power source;
- a drive motor supported by the base module and electrically coupled to the power source, the drive motor configured to receive power from the power source and energize at least one of the plurality of drive elements;
- a mast assembly extending from the base module;
- and
- a light assembly coupled to the mast assembly and electrically coupled to the power source, the light assembly configured to receive power from the power source.
The area light of claim 1, wherein the plurality of drive elements includes wheels coupled to a bottom wall of the base module.
The area light of claim 2, wherein the wheels include drive wheels operably coupled to the drive motor and non-powered wheels.
The area light of claim 3, wherein the drive wheels are adjacent a rear wall of the base module, and wherein the non-powered wheels are adjacent a front wall of the base module.
The area light of claim 4, wherein the base module also includes a handle extending from the rear wall.
The area light of claim 5, further comprising a trigger positioned on the handle, wherein the trigger is operable to actuate the drive motor.
The area light of claim 1, wherein the base module includes a housing having a battery receptacle, and wherein the power source includes a battery received in the battery receptacle.
The area light of claim 7, wherein the power source includes a plurality of batteries received in the battery receptacle.
The area light of claim 7, wherein the battery receptacle is selectively enclosed by a battery door coupled to a wall of the housing.
The area light of claim 7, wherein the housing includes a front wall, a rear wall, an upper wall, a bottom wall, and a pair of side walls, wherein the plurality of drive elements is coupled to the bottom wall, and wherein the base module includes a handle extending from the rear wall.
The area light of claim 1, wherein the power source is an AC power source.
The area light of claim 1, wherein the mast assembly is movable between a collapsed position and an extended position relative to the base module.
The area light of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of leg assemblies coupled to the base module for movement between a stowed position and a deployed position.
An area light comprising:
- a base module including
- a housing having a front wall, a rear wall, an upper wall, a bottom wall, and a pair of side walls,
- a plurality of drive elements coupled to the bottom wall and supporting the base module on a surface, and
- a handle extending from the rear wall, the handle configured to be pushed by a user to move the plurality of drive elements across the surface;
- a power source;
- a drive motor supported by the base module and electrically coupled to the power source, the drive motor configured to receive power from the power source and energize at least one of the plurality of drive elements;
- and
- a light assembly supported by the base module and electrically coupled to the power source, the light assembly configured to receive power from the power source.
An area light comprising:
- a base module including
- a housing having a front wall, a rear wall, an upper wall, a bottom wall, and a pair of side walls,
- a plurality of drive elements coupled to the bottom wall and supporting the base module on a surface,
- a handle extending from the rear wall, the handle configured to be pushed by a user to move the plurality of drive elements across the surface, and
- a battery receptacle configured to receive a battery;
- a drive motor supported by the base module and electrically coupled to the battery receptacle, the drive motor configured to receive power from the battery and energize at least one of the plurality of drive elements;
- a mast assembly extending from the base module, the mast assembly including a mast drive mechanism electrically coupled to the battery receptacle and operable to move the mast assembly between a collapsed position and an extended position relative to the base module, the mast drive mechanism configured to receive power from the battery;
- and
- a light assembly coupled to the mast assembly and electrically coupled to the battery receptacle, the light assembly configured to receive power from the battery.
