Abstract
The invention is directed to a stable composition wash composition. The wash composition comprises a mixture of biodegradable thickeners having starch and cellulose. The wash composition is mild at a pH of 4.2 or under, has a viscosity of 40,000 cps or less, and surprisingly, is free of syneresis, discoloration and malodor, even after being stored at elevated temperatures.
Claims15
A wash composition comprising:
- a) anionic surfactant;
- b) amphoteric surfactant, zwitterionic surfactant or both;
- c) 0 to 4% by weight nonionic surfactant;
- and
- d) 1.5 to 9.5% by weight thickener, the thickener comprising greater than 50% by weight starch based on total weight of thickener, with the proviso that the thickener further comprises gum, cellulose or both and where gum when present makes up from 0.05 to 0.125% by weight of the composition and when present cellulose makes up from 0.2 to 2.0% by weight of the composition,
- wherein the thickener is substantially free of synthetic thickener and the wash composition has a pH of 4.25 or less and:
- e) the composition has from 3.0 to 16% by weight total surfactant;
- and
- f) the total surfactant comprises from 20 to 99.5% by weight anionic surfactant based on total weight of anionic, zwitterionic and/or amphoteric surfactant in the composition, the composition is substantially free of soap, paraben, formaldehyde donor, thiol, sulfate, isethionate or a mixture thereof.
