Abstract
Seating furniture having a seat with a base and a seat surface which can be pivoted relative to the base between an upright sitting position and a reclined resting position by means of a pivoting device about a horizontal transverse axis lying above the seat surface, and with a backrest, in particular an office chair. In order to improve the seating comfort and reduce the pressure on the undersides of the user's thighs when reclining, at least one spring element is provided which, when the seat surface is pivoted towards the reclining position, generates a restoring torque on the seat surface in the direction of the upright sitting position.

An article of seating furniture, comprising:
- a base;
- a seat having a seat surface, wherein the seat surface can be pivoted relative to the base using a pivoting device, the seat surface being pivotable about a horizontal transverse axis above the seat surface such that the seat surface can be pivoted between an upright sitting position and a reclined resting position;
- a backrest;
- and
- at least one spring element, such that when the seat surface is pivoted toward the reclined resting position the at least one spring element generates a restoring torque that urges the seat surface towards the upright sitting position.
