Abstract
An environmental control assembly for controlling at least one environmental condition of one or more substances, the one or more substances being uncontained or contained within a substance container, the assembly comprising a first enclosure comprising a thermal insulator configured to provide a thermal shield to the substance, a second enclosure comprising at least one deformable environmental control material configured to regulate at least one environmental condition of the substance, wherein the second enclosure at least partially physically contacts with at least one of the substance and the substance container, and a housing at least partially comprising the first enclosure and the second enclosure.

A temperature control assembly for controlling a temperature of one or more substances, the one or more substances being uncontained or contained within a substance container, the assembly comprising:
- a housing having first and second portions movable relative to each other between an open position and a closed position, the housing defining an internal cavity;
- a first enclosure disposed in the internal cavity and comprising a thermal insulator configured to provide a thermal shield relative to an external environment;
- and
- a second enclosure disposed in the internal cavity and at least partially encased by the first enclosure, the second enclosure defining a receiving chamber configured to receive at least one of the one or more substances and the substance container, the second enclosure comprising:
- at least one deformable temperature-control body comprising a phase change material configured to regulate the temperature of the one or more substances;
- and
- at least one deformable interface surface bounding the receiving chamber and thermally coupled to the phase change material;
- wherein:
- with the at least one of the one or more substances and the substance container received in the receiving chamber and with the housing in the closed position, the at least one deformable interface surface being urged into conforming physical contact with the at least one of the one or more substances and the substance container so as to reduce air gaps therebetween and increase thermal coupling between the phase change material and the at least one of the one or more substances and the substance container;
- and
- the phase change material has a phase transition temperature selected such that, during ordinary storage of the assembly in a non-freezing ambient environment, at least a portion of the phase change material is capable to solidify to restore-heat capacity for a subsequent use.
