Abstract
An information handling system housing secures with a single lock that couples to the housing and engages a first side cover latch and a second side cover latch. In the locked position with the first and second side covers engaged, a top, front and bottom cover are secured in place. When the lock is in an unlocked position, pushing a first latch button independently releases the first side cover and pushing a second latch button independently releases the second side cover. The top, bottom and front covers remain engaged to the housing unless the first side cover is removed from the housing.
Claims20
An information handling system comprising:
- a processor operable to execute instruction that process information;
- a memory interfaced with the processor and operable to store the instructions and information;
- a housing having first and second side covers;
- a first latch coupling the first side cover to the housing;
- a second latch coupling the second side cover to the housing;
- and
- a locking mechanism coupled to the housing and having a locked position and an unlocked position, the locking mechanism engaging the first latch and the second latch in the locked position to prevent decoupling of the first side cover and second side cover from the housing, the locking mechanism releasing the first latch and the second latch in the unlocked position, the first latch decoupling the first side cover from the housing independently of the second side cover, the second latch decoupling the second side cover from the housing independently of the first side cover.
A method for securing a housing of an information handling system, the method comprising:
- coupling a first side, second side, top side, bottom side and front side to the housing;
- interfacing a single locking mechanism with the first side and second side to engage the first side and second side when in a locked position;
- and
- interfacing the first side with the top side, bottom side and front side to prevent removal of the top side, bottom side and front side unless the first is removed from the housing.
An information handling system comprising:
- a housing;
- first and second side covers configured to couple to first and second ;
- a first latch coupling the first side cover to the housing;
- a second latch coupling the second side cover to the housing;
- and
- a locking mechanism coupled to the housing and having a locked position and an unlocked position, the locking mechanism engaging the first latch and the second latch in the locked position to prevent decoupling of the first side cover and second side cover from the housing, the locking mechanism releasing the first latch and the second latch in the unlocked position, the first latch decoupling the first side cover from the housing independently of the second side cover, the second latch decoupling the second side cover from the housing independently of the first side cover.
