Abstract
An information handling system housing secures with a single lock that couples to the housing and engages a first side cover latch and a second side cover latch. In the locked position with the first and second side covers engaged, a top, front and bottom cover are secured in place. When the lock is in an unlocked position, pushing a first latch button independently releases the first side cover and pushing a second latch button independently releases the second side cover. The top, bottom and front covers remain engaged to the housing unless the first side cover is removed from the housing.
Claims20
An information handling system comprising:
- a processor operable to execute instruction that process information;
- a memory interfaced with the processor and operable to store the instructions and information;
- a housing having first and second side covers;
- and
- a locking mechanism coupled to the housing rear side between the first and second covers and having a rotating member that rotates between a locked position and an unlocked position, the rotating member engaged with a first locking pin and a second locking pin, the first locking pin interfaced with the first side cover, the second locking pin interfaced with the second side cover, the rotating member retracting both the first and second locking pins inward when rotating to the unlocked position thereby unlocking both the first and second side covers, the rotating member extending both the first and second locking pins outward when rotating to the locked position thereby locking the both the first and second side covers.
A method for securing a housing of an information handling system, the method comprising:
- coupling a first side cover and a second side cover to the housing;
- coupling a single locking mechanism to the housing rear side between the first side cover and the second side cover;
- rotating a rotating member to a locked position that slides a first lock pin towards the first side cover in a first direction and that slides a second lock pin towards the second side cover in a second direction opposite the first direction;
- and
- rotating the rotating member to an unlocked position that slides the first lock pin away from the first side cover in the second direction and that slides the second lock pin away from the second side cover in the first direction.
An information handling system comprising:
- a housing;
- first and second side covers configured to couple to first and second sides of the housing;
