Abstract
Methods and systems for video management. A system including a plurality of cameras and a plurality of video servers is configured with an allocation of the cameras to the video servers. The system is managed by monitoring load that the cameras place on the video servers to identify imbalances. When imbalance is recognized, the system performs reallocation of the cameras to the video servers.
Claims20
A method of load management in a video management system, the system including a plurality of cameras and a plurality of video servers, the method comprising:
- operating the cameras and the video servers with a first allocation of the plurality of cameras to respective video servers;
- monitoring utilization metrics for each camera at the respective video server for each camera;
- determining that a first video server is imbalanced relative to at least one other video server;
- in response to determining the first video server is imbalanced:
- determining a reallocation of the plurality of cameras to the plurality of video servers, resulting in a second allocation;
- and
- implementing the second allocation.
A method of load management in a video management system, the system including a plurality of cameras and a plurality of video servers, the method comprising:
- operating the cameras and the video servers with a first allocation of one or more cameras to respective video servers;
- monitoring utilization metrics for each camera at the respective video server for each camera;
- determining that a first video server is imbalanced relative to at least one other video server;
- and,
- in response, reallocating a first camera allocated to the first video server in the first allocation to a different video server.
A video management system comprising:
- a plurality of cameras;
- a plurality of video servers;
- a network connecting the plurality of cameras to the plurality of video servers, the network implementing a first allocation of the plurality of cameras to respective video servers;
- each respective video server in the system configured to monitor utilization metrics for each camera at the respective video server for each camera;
- and
- a video system controller configured to:
- determine that a first video server is imbalanced relative to at least one other video server;
- and
- in response to the first video server being imbalanced:
- determine a reallocation of the plurality of cameras to the plurality of video servers, resulting in a second allocation;
- and
- implement the second allocation.
