Abstract
An image forming system includes a processor configured to: set a usage right corresponding to the time of a concluded usage contract period; cause the usage right to expire for the amount of time used out of the set usage right; and if the usage right has expired entirely, activate a use-prohibited state that prohibits use of at least some functions of the system.

- a processor configured to:
- set a usage right corresponding to the time of a concluded usage contract period;
- cause the usage right to expire for the amount of time used out of the set usage right;

- if the usage right has expired entirely, activate a use-prohibited state that prohibits use of at least some functions of the system.
