Abstract
A method is provided comprising enrolling, by a processor, access to a virtual machine disk image in a database for a virtual machine manager by retrieving from the database the parameters required to run a virtual; generating a filename using the retrieved parameters; correlating the filename with the virtual machine disk image; creating a control file from the retrieved parameters; starting the virtual machine virtual machine disk image using the filename; translating, by a processor, the received File I/O requests into Data Operations that perform equivalent File I/O actions on data in a database; executing, by a processor, the Data Operations on the virtual machine disk image in the database, correlated with the filename.

- a) retrieving from the database the parameters required to run a virtual machine;
- b) generating a filename using the retrieved parameters;
- c) correlating the filename with the virtual machine disk image;
- d) creating a control file from the retrieved parameters;
- starting the virtual machine disk image using the filename;
- translating, by a processor, the received File I/O requests into Data Operations that perform equivalent File I/O actions on data in a database;
- executing, by a processor, the Data Operations on the virtual machine disk image in the database, correlated with the filename.
