An apparatus and method are for readily changing a caliber of cartridges in a firearm that has a blind box magazine well. A first magazine is provided for cartridges of a first caliber. The magazine securely engages the magazine well and has a bottom opening. A spring is provided with a bottom that extends through the opening and securely engages a floorplate, which in turn securely engages the firearm and encloses the magazine. The spring's top securely engages a follower that slides within the magazine. The spring biases the follower towards a feed lip opening at the magazine's top. When the first magazine is detached and removed from the magazine well, a second magazine for cartridges of a second caliber can be inserted into and securely engage the magazine well, thus readily changing the caliber of the cartridges in the firearm.
