Abstract
Techniques are provided for operating a robot to perform tasks within a workspace that allow components to be freely placed within the workspace. The techniques allow for the components to be placed at any desired location within a workspace. For instance, laboratory components can be placed anywhere on a laboratory bench, and tasks involving those components may be automatically performed irrespective of which components are present, and irrespective of their positions. Moreover, the process of instructing a robot to perform these tasks does not require programming, as the system may identify tasks available for that component and allow a user to choose from these tasks. A robot may then perform the selected task(s).
Claims29
A method comprising:
- by at least one processor:
- determining, based on image data depicting a workspace, that a first component arranged in the workspace is a first type of component;
- identifying one or more tasks associated with the first type of component;
- displaying at least part of the image data in a graphical user interface;
- receiving user input, via the graphical user interface, indicative of a first task of the one or more tasks associated with the first type of component;
- and
- generating a sequence of instructions based on the image data that, when executed by a robot, performs the first task.
A system comprising:
- one or more imaging devices arranged above a workspace and configured to produce image data of the workspace;
- a display device;
- a user input device;
- a robot;
- and
- at least one processor configured to:
- determine, based on the image data produced by the one or more imaging devices, that a first component depicted in the image data is a first type of component;
- identify one or more tasks associated with the first type of component;
- display, via the display device, at least part of the image data;
- receive, via the user input device, input indicative of a first task of the one or more tasks associated with the first type of component;
- and
- control the robot, based on the image data, to perform the first task.
At least one computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, perform a method comprising:
- determining, based on image data depicting a workspace, that a first component arranged in the workspace is a first type of component;
- identifying one or more tasks associated with the first type of component;
- displaying at least part of the image data in a graphical user interface;
- receiving user input, via the graphical user interface, indicative of a first task of the one or more tasks associated with the first type of component;
- and
- generating a sequence of instructions based on the image data that, when executed by a robot, performs the first task.
