Abstract
A pressure gradient wound dressing, the wound dressing having an absorbent pad having a shape having two elongate portions and at least one wing, wherein a short edge of a first elongate portion abuts a long edge of a second elongate portion, the at least one wing extending between a long edge of the first elongate portion and the long edge of the second elongate portion.

A pressure gradient wound dressing, the wound dressing comprising an absorbent pad having a shape comprising two elongate portions and at least one wing, wherein a short edge of a first elongate portion abuts a long edge of a second elongate portion, the at least one wing extending between a long edge of the first elongate portion and the long edge of the second elongate portion.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein an end of the first elongate portion distal to the second elongate portion comprises an aperture for connecting the wound dressing to a source of non-atmospheric pressure.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim where in the first elongate portion is tapered, the width decreasing away from the second elongate portion.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the or each wing has a triangular shape, and wherein one edge has a concave arc profile.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the or each wing has an area of at least 1% of the area of the absorbent pad.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the or each wing has an area of at least 1.2% of the area of the absorbent pad.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the or each wing has an area of at least 1.5 cm2.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the or each wing has an area of at least 1.7 cm2.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein each short edge of the second elongate portion of the absorbent pad comprises a notch.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the wound dressing is a one-piece dressing.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim further comprising a covering layer and an adhesive skin contact layer.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the covering layer has a quadrilateral shaped periphery.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the absorbent pad comprises a wound contacting layer, a transmission layer and a superabsorbent layer.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the first elongate portion, the second elongate portion and the at least one wing define a perimeter of the absorbent pad.
- A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the covering layer has a “T-shaped” periphery.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the covering layer comprises a first elongate portion and a second elongate portion wherein a short edge of the first elongate portion of the covering layer abuts a long edge of the second elongate portion of the covering layer.
A kit comprising at least one pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim and at least one of;
- a port, an airway, a source of non-atmospheric pressure.
