Abstract
A pressure gradient wound dressing having an absorbent pad and a covering layer, the absorbent pad having a shape including two elongate portions arranged at an angle to one another. The covering layer overlapping the absorbent pad and having a quadrilateral shaped periphery.
Claims26
A pressure gradient wound dressing, the wound dressing comprising an absorbent pad and a covering layer;
- the absorbent pad having a shape comprising two elongate portions arranged at an angle to one another;
- and
- the covering layer overlapping the absorbent pad and having a quadrilateral shaped periphery.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein a short edge of a first elongate portion abuts a long edge of a second elongate portion at a midpoint thereof.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the covering layer extends at least 20 mm beyond the absorbent pad.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the covering layer is a film.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the covering layer comprises polyurethane.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the covering layer has a thickness between 20 and 40 microns.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim further comprising an adhesive skin contact layer, wherein the absorbent pad is arranged between a first portion of the adhesive skin contact layer and the covering layer and a second portion of the adhesive skin contact layer is arranged on the covering layer.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim, the wound dressing further comprising at least one wing, the at least one wing extending between a long edge of the first elongate portion and the long edge of the second elongate portion.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any of claims 17 to 21 wherein the or each wing has an area of at least 1.7 cm2.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein each short edge of the second elongate portion of the absorbent pad comprises a notch.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to claim 23 wherein the or each notch has a curved profile.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the absorbent pad comprises a wound contacting layer, a transmission layer and a superabsorbent layer and at least two of the layers are laminated together.
A pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim wherein the first elongate portion, the second elongate portion and the at least one wing define a perimeter of the absorbent pad.
A kit comprising at least one pressure gradient wound dressing according to any preceding claim and at least one of;
- a port, an airway, a source of non-atmospheric pressure.
