Abstract
A stent delivery system can include a core assembly sized for insertion into a corporeal lumen and configured for advancing a stent toward a treatment location in the corporeal lumen. The core assembly can include a proximal restraint having a bumper section, a distal section distal to the bumper section, a lumen extending through the bumper and distal sections, and an undercut section including a recess at least partially surrounding the lumen. The recess can abut and/or be formed in the bumper and/or distal sections.
Claims20
A medical device delivery system, comprising:
- a core assembly sized for insertion into a corporeal lumen, the core assembly comprising:
- an elongate member having a distal segment;
- and
- a proximal restraint coupled to the distal segment of the elongate member, the proximal restraint including:
- a bumper section defining a first outer dimension;
- a distal section extending distally from the bumper section and defining a second outer dimension smaller than the first outer dimension;
- a lumen extending through the bumper section and the distal section, the lumen receiving the elongate member therethrough;
- and
- an undercut section comprising a recess positioned at an interface between the bumper section and the distal section;
- and
- a stent having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion, the stent disposed over at least a portion of the distal section of the proximal restraint such that the proximal end portion of the stent is received within the recess of the undercut section to inhibit the proximal end portion of the stent from expanding radially outward relative to the bumper section.
A core assembly for a medical device delivery system, the core assembly comprising:
- an elongate shaft having a proximal region and a distal region;
- a restraint fixedly coupled to the elongate shaft, the restraint comprising:
- a bumper portion having a distal end surface defining a radial plane;
- a spacer portion extending distally from the bumper portion, the spacer portion having a cross-sectional dimension smaller than a cross-sectional dimension of the bumper portion;
- and
- a circumferential groove formed in the distal end surface of the bumper portion, wherein at least a portion of the circumferential groove is located proximal to the radial plane;
- and
- an interventional element comprising a mesh structure disposed over the spacer portion, wherein a proximal end of the mesh structure abuts the circumferential groove such that the circumferential groove prevents the proximal end of the mesh structure from deflecting radially outward beyond the cross-sectional dimension of the bumper portion.
A medical device delivery system, comprising:
- an elongate member;
- and
- a proximal restraint disposed on the elongate member, the proximal restraint comprising:
- a bumper section having a distal face;
- a distal section extending distally from the bumper section, the distal section having a radial outer surface defining a cylindrical plane;
- and
- an annular recess positioned adjacent the distal face of the bumper section;
- and
- a braided stent extending over the distal section of the proximal restraint, wherein the annular recess is formed in the radial outer surface of the distal section such that an innermost surface of the annular recess is positioned radially inward of the cylindrical plane, and
- wherein a proximal end of the braided stent is seated within the annular recess.
