Abstract
In some examples, a catheter includes an elongated body including a proximal portion and a distal portion. The elongated body includes an inner liner, an outer jacket, a structural support member positioned between at least a portion of the inner liner and at least a portion of the outer jacket, and an expandable member coupled to the structural support member at the distal portion of the elongated body. The expandable member may be configured to expand radially outward, e.g., to engage a clot within vasculature of a patient.
Claims20
A catheter comprising:
- an elongated body including a proximal portion and a distal portion, the elongated body comprising:
- a structural support member;
- an outer jacket including a proximal section and a distal section, at least a portion of the proximal section of the outer jacket positioned around the structural support member such that the outer jacket covers the structural support member;
- and
- an expandable member at the distal portion of the elongated body,
- wherein the expandable member is configured to expand radially outward from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration,
- wherein the distal section of the outer jacket extends over at least a portion of the expandable member,
- wherein at least a portion of the distal section of the outer jacket expands radially outward when the expandable member is in the expanded configuration, and
- wherein the proximal section of the outer jacket is formed from a first material having a first Shore D hardness, the distal section of the outer jacket is formed from a second material having a second Shore D hardness, and the second Shore D hardness is less than the first Shore D hardness.

A catheter comprising:
- an elongated body including a proximal portion and a distal portion, the elongated body comprising:
- a structural support member;
- an outer jacket including a proximal section and a distal section, at least a portion of the proximal section of the outer jacket positioned around the structural support member such that the outer jacket covers the structural support member;
- a self-expanding expandable member at the distal portion of the elongated body, the self-expanding expandable member is configured to expand radially outward from a collapsed configuration to an expanded funnel-shaped configuration;
- and
- a sheath configured to retain the self-expanding expandable member in the collapsed configuration,
- wherein the self-expanding expandable member is configured to expand radially outward to the expanded funnel-shaped configuration when the sheath is withdrawn proximally to expose the self-expanding expandable member,
- wherein the distal section of the outer jacket extends over at least a portion of the self-expanding expandable member,
- wherein at least a portion of the distal section of the outer jacket expands radially outward when the self-expanding expandable member is in the expanded funnel-shaped configuration, and
- wherein the proximal section of the outer jacket is formed from a first material having a first Shore D hardness, the distal section of the outer jacket is formed from a second material having a second Shore D hardness, and the second Shore D hardness is less than the first Shore D hardness.

- an elongated body including a proximal portion and a distal portion, the elongated body comprising:
- a structural support member;
- an outer jacket including a proximal section and a distal section, at least a portion of the proximal section of the outer jacket positioned coextensive with the structural support member;
