A steering system of a commercial vehicle includes a mounting bracket that has a jacket tube disposed inside a fixed mounting tube, a bracket portion connected at a first end to a fluid cylinder, and a second end connected to a pivot part at a first point. The fixed mounting tube has friction flaps. The fluid cylinder has a first end fixed to the mounting bracket, and a second end connected to the pivot part at a second point. When a handle, connected to the fixed mounting tube, is rotated from the closed position to the open position, the friction flaps loosen and permit the mounting bracket to slide relative to the fixed mounting tube. Rotation of the handle also causes a relief valve of the fluid cylinder to open, permit the fluid cylinder to change its length, and permit the pivot part to pivot about the second point.
