Loop latch mechanism for power long rail assembly

A long rail assembly for use in an automotive vehicle, comprising:

• an upper channel slidably coupled to a long rail;
• a seat base fixedly coupled to the upper channel;
• a loop latch operatively coupled between the upper channel and the long rail and configured to lock the upper channel to the long rail when the loop latch is in a locked condition preventing movement of the upper channel relative to the long rail and wherein the upper channel is transposable along the long rail when the loop latch is in an unlocked condition;
• and
• a loop latch release comprising a mounting bracket fixedly coupled to the seat base, a shaft rotatably coupled to the mounting bracket, a rotating cam pivotably coupled to the shaft and including a ratchet gear having a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart notches and including a cam having an actuating portion and a cam side portion, a plunger operatively coupled to the cam and operatively coupled to the loop latch and transposable between a raised position and a lowered position, a lever arm pivotably coupled to the shaft, an arm pawl pivotably coupled to the lever arm and configured to meshingly engage with an adjacent notch on the ratchet gear during pivotal movement of the lever arm, and a bracket pawl pivotably coupled to the mounting bracket and configured to meshingly engage with an adjacent notch on the ratchet gear and lock the loop latch in the locked condition;
• wherein when the plunger is in the raised position when the plunger is engaged with the cam side portion and the plunger is in the lowered position when the plunger is engaged with the actuating portion;
• and
• wherein the loop latch is in the unlocked condition when the plunger is in the lowered position and the loop latch is in the locked condition when the plunger is in the raised position.
