Abstract
The present subject matter relates to a method for creating interconnected or continuous layers of material by using a heated powdered composition comprising base particles and an obstruction material. The heated powdered composition may be held at a temperature higher than its melting or softening point and the obstruction material prevents particle-particle coalescence until a curtailing agent is applied.
Claims20
A powdered composition for additive manufacturing, comprising:
- base particles having a melting or softening point;
- and
- a powdered obstruction material that is configured to at least partially obstruct the base particles from coalescing at a temperature at or above the melting or softening point;
- wherein the obstruction material is situated around or between the base particles;
- and
- wherein the obstruction material is configured to be partially diminished before incorporating into interconnected or continuous layers of material.
3 more elements
A kit for creating an additive manufactured part having interconnected or continuous layers of material, the kit comprising:
- a first container comprising base particles having a melting or softening point;
- and
- a second container comprising a powdered obstruction material;
- wherein the obstruction material, when combined with the base particles, is configured to at least partially obstruct the base particles from coalescing at a temperature at or above the melting or softening point of the base particles, and is configured to be partially diminished during coalescence of the interconnected or continuous layers of material.
