Abstract
A patient interface includes a first body that rests on a first portion of a patient's face, a second body that rests on a second portion of the patient's face, and a bridge linking the first and second bodies. The patient interface includes an attachment structure that couples with a complementary fixation structure positioned on the patient's face to secure the patient interface to the patient's face. The complementary fixation structure can be configured to assist in retaining a feeding tube in position relative to the patient's face or to the patient interface.

A fixation structure for securing a patient interface on a patient's face, the fixation structure comprising:
- a body comprising a first edge configured to face towards a patient's nose or a patient's mouth, a second edge configured to face away from the patient's nose or the patient's mouth, and a third edge and an opposing fourth edge each extending between the first edge and the second edge;
- wherein the body comprises a first region and an opposing second region, the first region comprising an adhesive to adhere to the patient's face, and the second region being an interface-facing region;
- and
- a first extension linked to the body at the third edge of the body, the first extension having a first side and an opposing second side, the first extension configured to retain a tube by folding the first extension over the tube and adhering the second side of the first extension to the interface-facing region of the body;
- wherein the first side of the first extension comprises a fixation element configured to releasably attach to a first complementary fastener of the patient interface;
- and
- wherein the first extension has an outer edge opposite to where the first extension links to the body, the outer edge comprising a curve, the curve being at least partially concave.
The fixation structure of claim 75, wherein the first extension is separable from the body.
The fixation structure of claim 75, wherein the curve of the outer edge substantially corresponds with a contour of an eye.
The fixation structure of claim 75, wherein opposing ends of the outer edge of the first extension projects farther from a centerline of the first extension than a middle portion of the outer edge of the first extension extends from the centerline.
The fixation structure of claim 75, wherein the first extension is linked to the body by a weakened joint.
The fixation structure of claim 75, wherein the first extension is linked with the third edge of the body via an intermediate portion.
The fixation structure of claim 80, wherein the intermediate portion is configured to receive the tube.
The fixation structure of claim 75, wherein the fixation element includes a hooked pad to releasably attach to a looped pad of the first complementary fastener of the patient interface.
The fixation structure of claim 75, wherein the fixation element comprises a slit pattern, wherein the slit pattern comprises slits that extend from outer width-wise edges of the fixation element.
The fixation structure of claim 75, further comprising a second extension linked to the body at the fourth edge of the body.
The fixation structure of claim 84, wherein the second extension has a first side and an opposing second side, the first side of the second extension comprising a second fixation element configured to releasably attach to a second complementary fastener of the patient interface.
The fixation structure of claim 84, wherein the second extension is separable from the body.
The fixation structure of claim 84, wherein the second extension has an outer edge opposite to where the second extension links with the body, the outer edge comprising a concave curve.
The fixation structure of claim 87, wherein opposing ends of the outer edge of the second extension projects farther from a centerline than a middle portion of the outer edge of the second extension extends from the centerline.
The fixation structure of claim 75, wherein the fixation structure includes adhesive and non-adhesive portions.
The fixation structure of claim 75, wherein only one of the body and the first and second extension includes an adhesive portion.
A patient interface system comprising:
- the fixation structure of claim 75;
- and the tube, wherein the tube is a feeding tube.
A patient interface system comprising:
- the fixation structure of claim 75;
- and the patient interface.
The fixation structure of claim 75, wherein the patient interface is a nasal cannula.
