Abstract
A cleansing and conditioning composition, free from silicones and free from sulfate-based surfactants, is disclosed comprising: (a) a plurality of non-sulfate anionic surfactants, the plurality of non-sulfate anionic surfactants comprising one or more isethionate surfactants, one or more amino acid surfactants, and one or more alkoxylated monoacid cosurfactants; (b) one or more amphoteric surfactants; (c) optionally, one or more nonionic surfactants; and (d) water. The cleansing composition is particularly effective as a conditioning shampoo, useful for shampooing and conditioning the hair.
Claims19
A cleansing composition comprising:
- (a) about 2 to about 25 wt. % of a plurality of non-sulfate anionic surfactants, the plurality of non-sulfate anionic surfactants comprising:
- (i) about 1 to about 10 wt. % of one or more isethionate surfactants;
- (ii) about 0.1 to about 10 wt. % of one or more amino acid surfactants;
- and
- (iii) about 0.1 to about 5 wt. % of one or more alkoxylated monoacid cosurfactants;
- (b) about 2 to about 10 wt. % of one or more amphoteric surfactants;
- (c) optionally, one or more nonionic surfactants;
- (d) about 60 to about 90 wt. % of water;
- wherein the composition is substantially free from sulfate-based anionic surfactants, and all percentages by weight are based on a total weight of the cleansing composition.
A cleansing composition comprising:
- (a) about 5 to about 25 wt. % of a plurality of non-sulfate anionic surfactants, the plurality of non-sulfate anionic surfactants comprising:
- (i) about 1 to about 10 wt. % of one or more isethionate surfactants;
- (ii) about 0.1 to about 10 wt. % of one or more amino-acid surfactants;
- and
- (iii) about 0.1 to about 5 wt. % of one or more alkoxylated monoacid cosurfactants;
- and
- (iv) optionally, one or more additional non-sulfate anionic surfactants;
- (b) about 2 to about 10 wt. % of one or more amphoteric surfactants selected from betaine surfactants, sultaine surfactants, amphopropionate surfactants, and amphoacetate surfactants;
- (c) less than 5 wt. % of one or more nonionic surfactants;
- (d) about 60 to about 90 wt. % of water;
- (e) optionally, about 0.1 to about 3 wt. % of one or more cationic conditioning polymers;
- (f) optionally, about 0.05 to about 4 wt. % of one or more pearlizing agents;
- (g) optionally, about 0.1 to about 10 wt. % of one or more miscellaneous ingredients selected from pH adjusters, salts, fragrances, preservatives, antioxidants, skin active agents, anti-wrinkle agent, UV filters, de-pigmenting agents, chelating agents, compositions colorants, fillers, humectants, emollients, botanical extracts, amino acids, peptides, proteins, or a combination thereof;
- wherein the composition is substantially free from sulfate-based anionic surfactants, and all percentages by weight are based on a total weight of the cleansing composition.
