System and method for compounding medication

A method for compounding a medication, comprising:

• coupling a transfer cartridge to a transfer module;
• coupling a medication container to a medication module;
• rotating the medication module about a first axis of rotation;
• rotating the transfer module about a second axis of rotation to align the transfer cartridge with the medication container;
• and
• coupling the transfer cartridge to the medication container.

A method for compounding a medication, comprising:

• coupling a transfer cartridge to a transfer module;
• joining a filling module with the transfer module, wherein the filling module comprises a plurality of filling ports;
• coupling a medication container to a selected filling port of the plurality of filling ports;
• rotating the transfer module to align the transfer cartridge with the medication container;
• coupling the transfer cartridge to the medication container;
• withdrawing the medication from the medication container;
• and
• directing the medication towards the selected filling port.
