Abstract
A slingbar includes a sling attachment member. The sling attachment member includes a frame including a base having a top end and a bottom end, and a hook extending from the bottom end to a hook terminus. The hook terminus and the top end of the base define an opening. The hook, base, and opening bound an interior of the attachment member. A closure element includes an outboard gate hinged to the hook terminus and an inboard gate hinged to the base. The gates have a default state in which each gate extends laterally only part way across the opening.
Claims18
A slingbar having a sling attachment member, the sling attachment member comprising:
- a frame having a base with a top end and a bottom end, an elbow laterally spaced from the base and having a bottom end and a terminus, a bottom segment joining the bottom end of the base to the bottom end of the elbow, the top end of the base and the terminus of the elbow defining a laterally extending opening;
- and
- a closure element comprising an actuator wing and a closure wing, the closure element hinged to the top of the base at a juncture of the actuator wing and closure wing, the closure element positionable in A) a open orientation in which at least part of the actuator wing spans across the frame opening and B) a closed orientation in which at least part of the closure wing spans across the frame opening.
A slingbar having a sling attachment member, the sling attachment member comprising:
- a fixed orientation lower jaw having an upper surface which includes an upper inboard segment, an upper outboard segment, and an upper intermediate segment laterally between the upper inboard segment and the upper outboard segment;
- a variable orientation upper jaw having a lower surface which includes a lower inboard segment, a lower outboard segment, and a lower intermediate segment laterally between the lower inboard segment and the lower outboard segment;
- and
- the upper inboard segment having a descending contour with increasing outward displacement, and the lower inboard segment having an ascending contour with increasing outward displacement, the contours adapted so that an object which is urged laterally outwardly can separate the intermediate segments from each other and pass outwardly between the intermediate segments.
