Abstract
An alignment system includes an electronic alignment device and an attachment apparatus. The attachment apparatus includes a cavity for receiving the electronic device, and a coupling apparatus for coupling the attachment apparatus to a medical device. The electronic alignment device is used to provide guidance in aligning the medical device. The electronic alignment device may send images to a secondary screen during a surgical procedure.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- receiving, at an electronic device, a designated trajectory for a medical device relative to an anatomical structure;
- receiving, at the electronic device, 3D depth data from one or more sensors of the electronic device;
- registering, using the 3D depth data, the electronic device to the anatomical structure;
- receiving, at the electronic device, sensor information from a sensor that is different than the one or more sensors;
- determining, using the sensor information, an orientation of the electronic device relative to the anatomical structure;
- establishing communication between the electronic device and a display device that is separate from the electronic device;
- sending, by the electronic device, image information to the display device, wherein the image information comprises information to guide a surgeon in aligning the medical device with the designated trajectory.
An attachment apparatus for use with an electronic device for alignment of a medical device, the attachment apparatus comprising:
- a first wall and a second wall opposite the first wall;
- a cavity between the first wall and the second wall for receiving the electronic device;
- a coupling apparatus for coupling the attachment apparatus to the medical device;
- an opening on the second wall;
- and
- a reflector assembly for redirecting light entering through the opening.
A method, comprising:
- receiving, at an electronic device, a designated trajectory for a medical device relative to an anatomical structure;
- receiving, at the electronic device, 3D depth data;
- registering, using the 3D depth data, the electronic device to the anatomical structure;
- receiving, at the electronic device, gyroscopic information;
- determining, using the gyroscopic information, an orientation of the electronic device relative to the anatomical structure;
- and
- displaying, using the electronic device, information to guide a surgeon in aligning the medical device with the designated trajectory.
