Abstract
An ablation catheter device, including: an elongated flexible body having a long axis, a proximal end and a distal end; an expandable therapeutic portion coupled to the elongated flexible body and located between the proximal end and the distal end of the elongated flexible body, wherein the expandable therapeutic portion comprises at least one central flexible shaft configured to move between a collapsed state and an expanded state; and two or more elongated electrodes coupled to the expandable therapeutic portion, wherein the two or more elongated electrodes are twisted around the at least one central flexible shaft.
Claims24
An ablation catheter device, comprising:
- an elongated flexible body having a long axis, a proximal end and a distal end;
- an expandable therapeutic portion coupled to said elongated flexible body and located between said proximal end and said distal end of said elongated flexible body, wherein said expandable therapeutic portion is configured to move between a collapsed state and an expanded state;
- and
- two or more parallel elongated electrodes extending axially along said expandable therapeutic portion, wherein said expandable therapeutic portion allows blood to flow through said expandable therapeutic portion.
A method for delivery of a pulse field ablation (PFA), comprising:
- inserting an ablation device at least partly into an ostium of a pulmonary vein in a left atrium, wherein the ablation device includes a therapeutic portion having at least two elongated electrodes, wherein the therapeutic portion has a collapsed state in which the elongated electrodes are exposed;
- expanding the therapeutic portion;
- delivering at least one pulse of an electric field between said at least two electrodes and to a wall of the pulmonary vein with ablation parameter values suitable for pulse field ablation;
- and
- generating a non-thermal ablation region in at least one of tissue of the pulmonary vein and heart tissue which surrounds a lumen of the pulmonary vein by said delivered at least one electric field pulse, wherein said non-thermal ablation region prevents transmission of electrical signals in the heart tissue via said non-thermal ablation region.
