Abstract
A shoe may comprise an upper and a comfort sole attached to an outsole, the comfort sole having a radius of curvature at any point of a line from a heel to a toe and interfacing with outsole, wherein the lowest point of comfort sole and outsole, called the center of mass or balance point of the sole or natural balance point of the shoe, when placed on a substantially horizontal reference plane defines a transition zone of the roll of the foot having the highest radius of the comfort sole and the outsole, and in that the center of mass is behind point (B) of the metatarsals; and a rigid shell interposed between the upper and the comfort sole.
Claims18
A footwear article comprising:
- an outsole;
- an upper coupled to the outsole;
- and
- a midsole disposed between at least a portion of the outsole and the upper, the midsole comprising:
- a top plate comprising a lateral portion at least partially spaced from a medial portion, a first sidewall extending from at least a portion of the lateral portion, a second sidewall extending from at least a portion of the medial portion, and one or more wings extending radially outwardly from the top plate;
- an insert disposed adjacent the top plate, wherein the top plate comprises one or more apertures formed therein to allow at least a portion of the insert to be uncovered by the top plate;
- a middle plate disposed adjacent the insert such that at least a portion of the insert is interposed between the top plate and the middle plate, wherein the middle plate comprises a plurality of forefoot flanges configured to extend under at least a portion of a forefoot of a wearer;
- and
- a cushioning portion disposed adjacent the middle plate.
A shoe, comprising:
- an upper;
- an outsole;
- and
- a midsole disposed between the upper and the outsole, the midsole comprising:
- a top plate portion configured to provide rigidity to the upper, wherein the rigidity of the top plate portion provides stability for a wearer, and wherein the top plate portion is configured to leave at least a portion of an underside of a foot of the wearer exposed;
- an insert portion disposed below the top plate portion;
- a middle plate portion configured to provide rigidity to the outsole, wherein the rigidity of the middle plate portion provides longitudinal stiffness for the shoe;
- and
- a cushioning portion disposed below the middle plate portion.
