Abstract
Embodiments of the invention relate to methods, systems, and software for identifying and quantifying subsurface hydrogen, helium, carbon dioxide, or other fluids using multiple indicia from geophysical well logs, other wireline logging tools, or mudlogging tools.
Claims20
A method of identifying subsurface hydrogen, helium, or carbon dioxide, the method comprising:
- using an image recognition module to automatically analyze geophysical log images or borehole images for patterns characteristic of subsurface hydrogen, helium, or carbon dioxide to identify accumulations of hydrogen, helium, or carbon dioxide in the subsurface;
- and
- outputting results of analysis of the geophysical log images.
An apparatus for identifying subsurface hydrogen, helium, or carbon dioxide, the apparatus comprising:
- an image recognition module to automatically analyze geophysical log images or borehole images for patterns characteristic of subsurface hydrogen, helium, or carbon dioxide to identify accumulations of hydrogen, helium, or carbon dioxide in the subsurface;
- and
- communications hardware configured to output results of analysis of the geophysical log images.
A method for differentiating a target gas from other subsurface fluids, the method comprising:
- differentiating the target gas from hydrocarbon fluids or other subsurface fluids using geophysical acoustic logs;
- and
- differentiating the target gas from water using geophysical density logs.
