Abstract
A sewing machine determines a pattern from multiple patterns, as a first pattern. The sewing machine generates a projection image including a first image representing a sewing image of the first pattern in a sewing expected size thereof. The sewing machine projects the generated projection image onto a projection area. The sewing machine sews the first pattern on a workpiece in the sewing expected size based on pattern data for the first pattern.

A control method for controlling a sewing machine, the control method comprising:
- displaying a first pattern on a display screen;
- projecting a first image representing the first pattern with a projector;
- receiving a start instruction input by a start switch;
- and
- sewing the first pattern with a feed dog and a needle bar,
- wherein the first pattern represents a sewing design that is sewn by moving a distal end of the needle bar in a first direction while moving the needle bar in a second direction that is orthogonal to the first direction.
