Abstract
Module-based energy systems are provided having multiple converter-source modules. The converter-source modules can each include an energy source and a converter. The systems can further include control circuitry for the modules. The modules can be arranged in various ways to provide single phase AC, multi-phase AC, and/or DC outputs. Each module can be independently monitored and controlled.

(canceled)
A module-based energy system, comprising:
- a plurality of modules, wherein each module of the plurality of modules comprises a converter, an energy buffer, and an energy source;
- and
- a master control device in communication with a plurality of local control devices, wherein each local control device of the plurality of local control devices is configured to generate one or more switching signals for at least two modules of the plurality of modules based on information received from the master control device, and
- wherein the module-based energy system is configured to generate an AC signal from a plurality of DC voltages output by the plurality of modules based on the one or more switching signals.
1 more element
A method of supplying power from a module-based energy system, the method comprising:
- controlling, by a master control device, a plurality of local control device;
- generating, by each local control device of a plurality of local control devices, one or more switching signals for at least two modules of a plurality of modules based on information received from the master control device, wherein each module of the plurality of modules comprises a converter, an energy buffer, and an energy source;
- and
- generating an AC signal from a plurality of DC voltages output by the plurality of modules based on the one or more switching signals.
