Abstract
This deconstructable plant pot overcomes the problems with soil and root disruption during transplanting. At its simplest, the pot has three parts: two curved sidewalls and a base. The sidewalls can be attached and detached from each other. The sidewalls are connected by sliding them together along their vertical edges. When they are attached they form a hollow body, which can be attached and detached from the base by twisting the base on and off the lower portion of the hollow body.
Claims17
A deconstructable plant pot comprising:
- a. a hollow body comprising a first concave sidewall removably connected to a second concave sidewall, wherein the first concave sidewall is configured to vertically slide into the second concave sidewall;
- and
- b. a base removably connected to the hollow body.
A deconstructable plant pot comprising:
- a. a first concave sidewall and a second concave sidewall, wherein each of the first and second sidewalls comprises:
- i. a surface extending between a first side edge and a second side edge, wherein the surface has an inside face and an outside face;
- ii. a top edge and a footer, wherein the footer comprises a twist fastener on at least the outside face;
- iii. a key receiver extending from the inside face at the top edge at the first side edge;
- and
- iv. a key extending from the inside face at edge at the second side edge, wherein the first key removably mates to the key receiver;
- wherein the first side edge of the first concave sidewall is configured to slide vertically into the second side edge of the second concave sidewall to form a body;
- and
- b. a circular base having a base inside surface and a base outside surface, wherein:
- i. at least one of the base inside surface or the base outside surface comprises a twist fastener;
- and
- ii. the circular base is configured to removably screw onto the footers of the concave sidewalls when the key of the first sidewall is connected to the key receiver of the second sidewall and the key of the second sidewall is connected to the key receiver of the first sidewall.
A kit for a deconstructable plant pot, the kit comprising:
- a. a plurality of concave sidewalls, each sidewall comprising:
- i. a top edge, a bottom edge, a first side edge and a second side edge, wherein the first side edge and second side edge are configured to slide together vertically;
- ii. a key on the first side edge;
- and
- iii. a key receiver on the second side edge;
- and
- b. a plurality of bases.
(canceled)
A method of transplanting a plant from a deconstructable pot comprising a base, a first curved sidewall and a second curved sidewall forming a body, into a pot larger than the deconstructable pot, the method comprising:
- a. adding soil to the larger pot;
- b. twisting off the base of the deconstructable pot that has the plant in it, leaving the plant in the body;
- c. placing the body on top of the soil in the larger pot;
- d. adding soil around the body in the larger pot;
- e. sliding a first sidewall of the body vertically upward to separate it from a second sidewall of the body;
- f. removing the first sidewall from the larger pot;
- and
- g. sliding the second sidewall vertically upward and removing it from the larger pot.
