Interfaces to manage direct network peerings

A method for establishing a private network connection between a customer's premises and a cloud provider network, the method comprising:

• establishing a dedicated physical network connection between a router of a customer network on the customer's premises and a router in the cloud provider network;
• creating a virtual network interface to enable communication to flow between the customer's premises and a cloud computing environment via the dedicated physical network connection established between the customer network and the cloud provider network without traversing public internet infrastructure;
• and
• routing data traffic between the customer's premises and the cloud computing environment through the virtual network interface, thereby bypassing the public internet infrastructure.

A system comprising:

• one or more computing devices configured to:
• cause a dedicated physical network connection to be established between a router of a customer network on a customer's premises and a router in a cloud provider network;
• create a virtual network interface to enable communication to flow between the customer's premises and a cloud computing environment via the dedicated physical network connection established between the customer network and the cloud provider network without traversing public internet infrastructure;
• and
• route data traffic between the customer's premises and the cloud computing environment through the virtual network interface, thereby bypassing the public internet infrastructure.

One or more non-transitory, computer-readable storage media, storing program instructions that, when executed on or across one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

• cause a dedicated physical network connection to be established between a router of a customer network on a customer's premises and a router in a cloud provider network;
• create a virtual network interface to enable communication to flow between the customer's premises and a cloud computing environment via the dedicated physical network connection established between the customer network and the cloud provider network without traversing public internet infrastructure;
• and
• route data traffic between the customer's premises and the cloud computing environment through the virtual network interface, thereby bypassing the public internet infrastructure.
