Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for water treatment and/or desalination.

A system comprising:
- heat pipes in contact with a heat source, the heat pipes comprising a first section in a first chamber and a second section in a crystallizer;
- the crystallizer comprising a crystallizer feed fed into the crystallizer wherein the crystallizer feed is concentrated by evaporation produced by heat from the heat pipes.
