Abstract
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for controlled laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) metal additive manufacturing. One of the methods includes predicting thermal information of a part to be printed; analyzing the thermal information to identify one or more areas of potential heat buildup; and adjusting process parameters for processing the identified one or more areas to reduce heat buildup.
Claims20
A method for feedforward control of a laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing process, the method comprising:
- predicting thermal information of a part to be printed;
- analyzing the thermal information to identify one or more areas of potential heat buildup;
- and
- adjusting process parameters for processing the identified one or more areas to reduce heat buildup.
A system comprising one or more computers and one or more storage devices on which are stored instructions that are operable, when executed by the one or more computers, to cause the one or more computers to perform operations comprising:
- predicting thermal information of a part to be printed;
- analyzing the thermal information to identify one or more areas of potential heat buildup;
- and
- adjusting process parameters for processing the identified one or more areas to reduce heat buildup.
One or more non-transitory computer storage media encoded with instructions that, when executed by one or more computers, cause the one or more computers to perform operations comprising:
- predicting thermal information of a part to be printed;
- analyzing the thermal information to identify one or more areas of potential heat buildup;
- and
- adjusting process parameters for processing the identified one or more areas to reduce heat buildup.
