Abstract
The present invention relates to compositions, methods and products for providing nutrition to insects such as bees, e.g., honey bees. Certain embodiments of the present invention also relate to methods of providing nutrition to bees, e.g., colonies of bees together with methods of preparing a composition for providing nutrition to bees.
Claims12
A method for increasing bee performance, comprising:
- administering to a man-made feed composition at least two sterols, wherein
- (a) the at least two sterols are selected from the group consisting of 24-methylenecholesterol, campesterol, beta-sitosterol and cholesterol;
- and
- (b) wherein the total combined amount of the sterols is between about 0.01% to 4.0% by dry weight of the composition.
