Disclosed is an aquarium water filtration device, which comprises a suction assembly configured to draw wastewater from an aquarium, a filter assembly configured to filter the wastewater, and a pump configured to drive a water flow. A control valve includes a first inlet port in fluid communication with the pump, a first outlet port, and a second outlet port. A backwater channel connects the second outlet port to the aquarium to guide filtered water back. A drainage channel connects the first outlet port to discharge wastewater. The control valve is configured to selectively switch the water flow path between the first outlet port and the second outlet port. This allows a user to selectively direct the water to the backwater channel for normal filtration and circulation or to the drainage channel for discharging wastewater during maintenance or water changes.
