Windrow merger and method for forming windrows through a windrow merger which collects agricultural products from a field

A method for forming windrows through a windrow merger which collects agricultural products from a field in an advancing direction, wherein the windrow merger includes a front side and a rear side, wherein the front side precedes the rear side in the advancing direction;

• the method comprising the following steps:
• picking up the agricultural products through a pick-up device;
• receiving the agricultural products from the pickup device at a belt conveyor connected to a frame of the windrow merger and moving them in a conveying direction, oriented horizontally and transversal to the advancing direction for forming the products into a windrow
• moving a catching element between an active position, wherein the catching element is placed lateral to the conveyor and distanced therefrom by a first distance to collaborate with the conveyor and to provide the space for the formation of the windrow, and a passive position, wherein the catching element is placed lateral to and in proximity to the conveyor and distanced from the conveyor by a second distance therefrom, smaller than the first distance, wherein the position of the catching element in the passive position is offset with respect to that in the active position with respect to the advancing direction and towards the head.
