Abstract
Systems and methods herein are for multicast configurations in a network using a switch that can receive communication for a multicast group and that can transmit at least data from the communication to different destination nodes. The communication may include, in addition to the data, a multicast identifier associated with first egress ports of the switch and a bitmask representation associated with second egress ports of the switch. The transmission of the data can occur through the first egress ports and the second egress ports to reach the different destination nodes.
Claims20
A system for multicast configuration in a network, comprising:
- a switch to receive communication for a multicast group and to transmit at least data from the communication to a plurality of destination nodes, the communication comprising, in addition to the data, a multicast identifier associated with first egress ports of the switch and a bitmask representation associated with second egress ports of the switch, wherein the transmission of the data occurs through the first egress ports and the second egress ports to reach the plurality of destination nodes.
A system comprising:
- one or more circuits to receive communication for a multicast group and to transmit at least data from the communication to a plurality of destination nodes, the communication comprising, in addition to the data, a multicast identifier associated with first egress ports of a switch under the multicast group and a bitmask representation associated with second egress ports of the switch, wherein the transmission of the data is through the first egress ports and the second egress ports to reach the plurality of destination nodes.
A system comprising:
- one or more circuits to provide a multicast group for a source node and a plurality of destination nodes, the provision of the multicast group based, at least in part, on a plurality of multicast identifiers and a plurality of bitmask representations, the plurality of multicast identifiers for first egress ports associated with different multicast groups which comprise the multicast group and the plurality of bitmask representations associated with second egress ports, wherein the first egress ports and the second egress ports are for different communications associated with the different multicast groups.
A method for multicast configuration in a network, comprising:
- receiving, in a switch, communication for a multicast group;
- determining, from the communication, a multicast identifier associated with first egress ports of the switch and a bitmask representation associated with second egress ports of the switch;
- determining to transmit at least data from the communication to a plurality of destination nodes;
- and
- transmitting the data through the plurality of first egress ports and the second egress ports to reach a plurality of destination nodes.
