Method for manufacturing acoustic panels

A method for manufacturing an acoustic panel comprising:

• providing a substrate having a first major surface opposite a second major surface and a side surface extending between the first major surface and the second major surface;
• measuring the substrate to determine a width, a length, and a thickness of the substrate;
• determining a perforation matrix based upon the measured width, length, and thickness of the substrate and a predetermined target perforation spacing;
• and
• perforating the substrate with the perforation matrix;
• wherein the determining comprises calculating a quantity of rows and a quantity of columns.

A method for forming a surface covering system comprising:

• providing a first substrate and a second substrate, each of the first and second substrate having a first major surface opposite a second major surface and a side surface extending between the first major surface and the second major surface;
• measuring the first and second substrates to determine a width, a length, and a thickness of each substrate;
• determining a perforation matrix for each substrate based upon the measured width, length, and thickness of each substrate and a predetermined target perforation spacing for each substrate;
• perforating each substrate with the perforation matrix;
• and
• positioning the first substrate adjacent the second substrate to yield the surface covering system,
• wherein the determining comprises calculating a quantity of rows and a quantity of columns for each substrate.
