Abstract

A catalyst for the treatment of an exhaust gas stream containing one or more of formaldehyde, nitrogen oxide (NO), and hydrocarbons, the catalyst comprising a first washcoat layer comprising Mn, and a substrate, wherein the substrate has an inlet end, and an outlet end, wherein the catalyst further comprises one or more platinum group metals comprising Pt, Pd, or Pt and Pd, wherein the one or more platinum group metals are at least in part contained in one or more of: (a) the first washcoat layer, and (b) an optional second washcoat layer, or (c) optional second and third washcoat layers, wherein the loading of Mn in the catalyst, calculated as the element, is in the range of from 0.04 to 0.9 g/in3.
