Abstract
Wearable devices can be used to stimulate one or more nerves or proprioceptors to reduce essential tremor, Parkinson tremor, and other forms of tremor. Wearable devices for vibrotactile stimulation of proprioceptors are provided in certain aspects.
Claims20
A wearable device for reducing tremor of a subject using data filtering, the device comprising:
- one or more motion sensors configured to generate data corresponding to a tremor frequency of the subject;
- one or more mechanical effectors configured to apply vibrotactile stimulation to a wrist of the subject sufficient to stimulate one or more nerves or proprioceptors;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- receive the data from the one or more motion sensors;
- filter the data to remove motions that are not attributable to the tremor;
- extract the tremor frequency of the subject from the data;
- and
- set one or more stimulation parameters of the vibrotactile stimulation applied by the one or more mechanical effectors based, at least in part, on the tremor frequency.

A wearable device for reducing tremor of a subject using data filtering, the device comprising:
- one or more sensors configured to generate data corresponding to one or more tremor characteristics of the subject;
- one or more mechanical effectors configured to apply vibrotactile stimulation to a wrist of the subject sufficient to stimulate one or more nerves or proprioceptors;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- receive the data from the one or more sensors;
- filter the data to remove a portion of the data that is not attributable to the tremor;
- extract the one or more tremor characteristics of the subject from the data;
- and
- set one or more parameters of the vibrotactile stimulation applied by the one or more mechanical effectors based, at least in part, on the one or more tremor characteristics.
