Abstract
A transcutaneous stimulation system can be used to stimulate one or more nerves or proprioceptors to reduce essential tremor, Parkinson tremor, and other forms of tremor. Vibrotactile stimulation of proprioceptors is provided in certain aspects.
Claims20
A system configured to calibrate transcutaneous stimulation to one or more tremor characteristics of a user, the system comprising:
- one or more sensors configured to obtain data indicative of one or more tremor characteristics of the user, the one or more tremor characteristics comprises at least a tremor frequency of the user;
- one or more mechanical effectors that are configured to apply the transcutaneous stimulation at one or more locations on a wrist of the user to stimulate one or more nerves or proprioceptors of the user,
- wherein the one or more mechanical effectors are positioned on a wearable device,
- wherein the wearable device comprises a band,
- wherein the band is configured to wrap partially or completely around the wrist of the user, and
- wherein the transcutaneous stimulation comprises vibrotactile stimulation;
- and
- one or more processors configured to receive the data from the one or more sensors and to set one or more stimulation parameters of the transcutaneous stimulation based on processing of the data so as to calibrate the transcutaneous stimulation based, at least in part, on the tremor frequency of the user.
