Transport apparatus for a person and method

An apparatus for transporting a person from a position on the ground onto the apparatus generally in a horizontal orientation, comprising:

• (a) a board assembly comprising:
• (i) a first belt configured to engage the ground and advance towards the person on the ground;
• (ii) a second belt configured engage the person and move the person onto the second belt;
• (iii) a board housing for the first belt and the second belt, the board housing positioning the first belt beneath the second belt;
• (iv) a drive system configured to rotate the first belt and second belt in opposite directions,
• wherein the board assembly is configured to receive a person horizontally thereon;
• and
• (b) a board assembly controller, comprising:
• (i) a controller housing;
• (ii) a battery retained by the controller housing;
• (iii) a motor housed within the controller housing and operably coupled to the battery;
• and
• wherein the controller is operably coupled with the drive system of the board assembly and the controller is external to the board assembly, and
• wherein operation of the motor actuates the first belt and the second belt.
