Abstract
The present disclosure provides a system for injecting a drug eluting construct in a patient. The construct includes multiple cellular based microcaspules, wherein the multiple cellular based microcapsules create at least one of a plurality of layers or sections of microcapsules joined together to comprise an implant. There is a medicinal agent within the microcapsules. A syringe and needle inject the implant constructed of microcapsules into the patient at least one of during and after a surgical procedure. The medicinal agent controllably releases into the patient both immediately and at a delayed time.
Claims20
A system for treating blood loss at a tissue wound that has cut blood vessels, the system comprising:
- a biocompatible viscous gel configured to be deployed in the wound;
- and
- a delivery mechanism configured to deploy the gel in the wound,
- wherein the gel is configured to adhere to tissues and the cut blood vessels of the wound,
- wherein the gel is configured to retard flow of blood from the tissues and the cut blood vessels of the wound, and
- wherein the gel has a viscosity that enables the gel to remain in position at the wound until removal.
A method for treating blood loss at a tissue wound that has cut blood vessels, the method comprising:
- positioning a delivery mechanism at the wound;
- and
- deploying a biocompatible viscous gel into the wound with the delivery mechanism,
- wherein the gel adheres to tissues and the cut blood vessels of the wound and retards flow of blood from the tissues and the cut blood vessels of the wound, and
- wherein viscosity of the gel is such that the gel remains at the wound until removal.
