Abstract
The invention relates to a system for distributing a growth media to plants. The system comprises a container for receiving the plants, a first conduit for fluidly connecting the container to a reservoir having the growth media, and a suction device fluidly connected to the container. The suction device is operable to draw air from the container so as to cause the growth media to flow from the reservoir into the container and at least partially immerse the plants.
Claims25
A system for distributing a growth media to plants, comprising:
- a container for receiving the plants;
- a first conduit for fluidly connecting the container to a reservoir having the growth media;
- and
- a suction device fluidly connected to the container;
- wherein the suction device is operable to draw air from the container, causing the growth media to flow from the reservoir into the container and at least partially immerse the plants.
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein a second conduit fluidly connects the container to the suction device.
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the suction device is located at, near or adjacent to a top, side or bottom of the container.
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the reservoir is located at, near or adjacent to a bottom of the container to promote the flow of the growth media back to the reservoir from the container.
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the container comprises a port to permit a gas from outside the container to flow into the container.
The system of any one of the preceding claims, wherein the reservoir is flexible.
A method for distributing a growth media to plants in a container, the method comprising the steps of:
- fluidly connecting the container to a reservoir having the growth media;
- and
- fluidly connecting the container to a suction device;
- and
- applying a suction force to draw air from the container, causing the growth media to flow from the reservoir into the container such that the plants are at least partially immersed in the growth media.
