Eyeglasses nose piece switch

A wearable device comprising:

• a frame;
• a nose piece attached to or integrated with the frame;
• one or more switch elements integrated with or attached to the nose piece;
• a microphone;
• a controller communicably coupled to the one or more switch elements and the microphone;
• wherein the controller is configured to:
• receive first input signals comprising a temporal or patterned sequence of inputs from the one or more switch elements responsive to wearer-initiated actions that result in activations of the one or more switch elements;
• receive voice input signals from the microphone;
• evaluate the temporal or patterned sequence of inputs and the voice input signals to determine whether the voice input signals represent a command for controlling a function of the wearable device or a remote device, and
• execute said command to control said function when said evaluation determines that the temporal or patterned sequence of inputs of the first input signals and the voice input signals do represent said command, or otherwise
• to receive and evaluate further input signals from the one or more switch elements and further voice input signals from the microphone.

A method of controlling a wearable device that includes a frame, a nose piece attached to or integrated with the frame, one or more switch elements integrated with or attached to the nose piece, and a controller communicably coupled to the one or more switch elements, the method comprising:

• receiving, by the controller, first input signals from the one or more switch elements, the first input signals comprising a temporal or patterned sequence of inputs and being responsive to wearer-initiated actions that result in activations of the one or more switch elements,
• evaluating, by the controller, the temporal or patterned sequence of inputs to determine whether they represent a command for controlling at least one function of the wearable device, and
• executing, by the controller, said command to control said function when said evaluation determines that the temporal or patterned sequence of inputs of the first input signals do represent said command, or otherwise
• receiving and evaluating, by the controller, further input signals from the one or more switch elements by assessing the further input signals for the temporal or patterned sequence of inputs representative of said command when said evaluation determines that the temporal or patterned sequence of inputs of the first input signals do not represent said command.
