Large-volume delivery device with container configuration

A medicament delivery device, comprising:

• an external housing comprised of a substantially rigid body;
• a medicament container containing an internal volume containing a medicament and a plunger;
• a drive mechanism proximate the plunger and configured to apply pressure to the plunger to expel medicament from the medicament container;
• a container holder, wherein the medicament container holder is configured to move forward when pressure is applied to the plunger, thereby advancing a cap of the medicament container to cause a piercing member to pierce the cap of the medicament container to put the medicament container in fluid connection with a delivery fluid path.
