Abstract
A resection guide includes an anchor having bone anchoring features, a cutting block having a cutting guide defined therein, and a linkage flexibly connecting the cutting block to the anchor. The flexibility of the linkage provides the cutting block with six degrees of freedom of motion relative to the anchor.
Claims20
A resection guide, comprising:
- an anchor having bone anchoring features;
- a cutting block having a cutting guide defined therein;
- a linkage flexibly connecting the cutting block to the anchor;
- and
- an alignment component connectable to the cutting block, wherein the cutting block includes a connecting element whereby the alignment component is connectable to the cutting block, wherein the connecting element defines at least one discrete connected position for the alignment component relative to the cutting block, and wherein the alignment component is configured to align the cutting block with respect to a bone to be cut.
2 more elements
A method of performing a resection, comprising:
- fixing an anchor to a patient;
- positioning a cutting block into an intended position relative to the patient, the cutting block being connected to the anchor by a flexible linkage;
- aligning or verifying alignment of an alignment component connected to the cutting block relative to a bone to be cut;
- and
- cutting the bone through a cutting guide defined in the cutting block while the cutting block is in the intended position.
2 more elements
A resection guide, comprising:
- an anchor having bone anchoring features;
- a cutting block having a cutting guide defined therein;
- a linkage flexibly connecting the cutting block to the anchor;
- and
- an alignment rod connectable to the cutting block in a discrete connected position for the alignment rod relative to the cutting block, wherein the alignment rod is configured to align the cutting block with respect to a bone to be cut.
