Abstract
A potentiometric gas sensor comprises a planar solid-state electrolytic chip having a sensing electrode, a reference electrode, and a heater provided thereon. The heater, the sensing electrode and the reference electrode are provided on the same surface of the chip. The gas sensor may be in the form of a microchip. The gas sensor is particularly suitable for detecting a gas, such as oxygen, in an environment such as in an internal combustion engine, a factory or a scientific laboratory.
Claims21
A potentiometric gas sensor comprising a planar electrolytic chip having a sensing electrode, a sealed reference electrode, and a heater provided thereon,
- wherein the heater, the sensing electrode and the reference electrode are provided on the same planar surface of the chip, and
- wherein the gas sensor is a miniaturised gas sensor in which the planar surface of the chip on which the heater, the sensing electrode and the reference electrode are provided has a surface area of from 0.1 to 5 mm2.
A potentiometric gas sensor comprising a planar electrolytic chip having a sensing electrode, a sealed reference electrode, and a heater provided on the same planar surface of the chip;
- wherein an insulation layer sits between the chip and the heater, and wherein the reference electrode is sealed with a sealing layer having a lower flow point than the insulation layer that sits between the chip and the heater.
