Abstract
Provided is a method of preparing a benzenesulfonyl compound by reacting a compound represented by the following Chemical Formula, and an n-hydric alcohol in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst and an alkali metal hydroxide, wherein R1 to R5 are independently of one another hydrogen, a halogen, C1-C7 alkoxy, or C1-C7 alkyl; X is a residue derived from the n-hydric alcohol; n is an integer of 1 to 4; and Y is a halogen. The method has an excellent reaction speed even under mild reaction conditions and may produce the benzenesulfonyl compound in a high yield.
