A multilayer product is disclosed. The multi-layer product may include a cellulose fiber-based base layer and a barrier layer. The barrier layer may include at least 10% (w/w) of hydrolysed cellulose fibers.

A multilayer product comprising:
- a cellulose fiber-based base layer;
- and
- a barrier layer,
- wherein the barrier layer comprises at least 10% (w/w) of hydrolysed cellulose fibers.

A method of forming a multilayer product, the method comprising:
- forming a cellulose-fiber based base layer and a barrier layer, wherein the barrier layer comprises at least 10% (w/w) of hydrolysed cellulose fibers;
- and
- forming the multilayer product therefrom.
