Glasses provided with a photon source, system comprising such glasses and use of such glasses in phototherapy

A system comprising a glasses provided with a support frame for positioning on the ears and the nose of a person;

• the support frame enclosing at least partially two perimeters for receiving two transparent spectacle glasses, and
• at least one light source for emitting light integrated in the support frame,
• wherein the at least one light source comprises a photon source capable of emitting photons with a photon energy of between 2.82 eV and 2.43 eV,
• wherein the support frame portion located above the perimeter comprises at least one light guiding element adapted to indirectly deliver light originating from the at least one light source substantially from above the perimeter to the eyes of the person,
• wherein the support frame comprises an inner surface that surrounds at least partially each of the perimeter for receiving two spectacle glasses, wherein the portion of the inner surfaces that is located below the at least one light guiding element are configured to reflect the artificial light that is coming indirectly from the at least one light guiding element onto the eye of the person,
• wherein the glasses are constructed such that during light treatment:
• each perimeter for receiving the spectacle glass is positioned in front of an eye of the person, the portion of the inner surfaces of the support frame that surrounds at least partially each of the perimeter for receiving two spectacle glasses and that is located below the at least one light guiding element at least partially reflects to the eye direct or indirect incident light originating from the light source, and
• the photons are directly and/or indirectly delivered to the eyes substantially from above the perimeter,
• wherein the system further comprises an external device provided with a processor and a computer program which, in use, causes the processor to control the at least one light source in the glasses in accordance with a predetermined program.

A method for inhibiting the production of melatonin of a wearer of light-emitting glasses, wherein the method comprises using a glasses provided with a support frame for positioning on the ears and the nose of the wearer;

• the support frame enclosing at least partially two perimeters for receiving two transparent spectacle glasses, and
• at least one light source for emitting light integrated in the support frame,
• wherein the at least one light source comprises a photon source capable of emitting photons with a photon energy of between 2.82 eV and 2.43 eV,
• wherein the support frame portion located above the perimeter comprises at least one light guiding element adapted to indirectly deliver light originating from the at least one light source substantially from above the perimeter to the eyes of the wearer,
• wherein the support frame comprises an inner surface that surrounds at least partially each of the perimeter for receiving two spectacle glasses, wherein the portion of the inner surfaces that is located below the at least one light guiding element are configured to reflect the artificial light that is coming indirectly from the at least one light guiding element onto the eye of the wearer,
• wherein the glasses are constructed such that during light treatment:
• each perimeter for receiving spectacle glass is positioned in front of an eye of the wearer, the portion of the inner surfaces of the support frame that surrounds at least partially each of the perimeter for receiving two spectacle glasses and that is located below the at least one light guiding element at least partially reflects to the eye direct or indirect incident light originating from the light source, and
• the photons are directly and/or indirectly delivered to the eyes substantially from above the perimeter.
